About My Ratings

As I'm sure you've noticed, all of my reviews feature a 'star rating'. I would just like to say here that this rating is not intended as a qualitative indication of how good or bad a book is! I'm not an experienced book critique and am writing these reviews out of my love for literature and to provide a product that praises an author's work, while opening it up for discussion. And so, I want to make it  clear that I'm not trying to belittle a book or discredit an author down by scoring the quality of their work - particularly when I've allocated a low score.

So rather than being used as a mark of quality as you might first expect, the scoring system I use here is the same one employed by Goodreads and is an indication of how much I enjoyed reading the featured book. Thus, even a book carrying just one 'star' in its review could have been an excellent book in its own right, but, for whatever reason, I just didn't enjoy reading it.

So, just to clarify my rating system further and tell you exactly what I mean by each star:

FIVE STARS mean the book was amazing to read
FOUR STARS mean I really enjoyed reading the book
THREE STARS mean I liked reading the book
TWO STARS mean I found reading the book a little dull, but it was ok
ONE STAR means I found the book boring to read
